In short ... you don't need to be a GOLFER to have GOLFER'S ELBOW!
GOLFER'S ELBOW usually begins as a tendinopathy. A tendinopathy is an injury to the tendon causing pain and limited movement. For patient's with golfer’s elbow, the muscles and tendons are located on the medial aspect (inside portion) of the elbow experience some form of micro tearing. Here is what you can feel... Golfer’s elbow usually presents as
-
Pain and tenderness over the inside of the elbow
-
Stiffness in the elbow which also hurts to make a fist
-
Weakness of the hand and wrist
-
The pain is worse with wrist flexion (curling the wrist up) and pronation (turning the wrist over)
GUYS - not to worry, at LIMP IN LEAP OUT PHYSIOTHERAPY we use the latest and greatest techniques to remove the root cause of your golfer’s elbow injury. This involves using Eccentric training of the wrist extensors, which has been shown to be effective in treating chronic golfer’s elbow. Good evidence shows significant reductions in chronic pain. We also use other techniques including soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisations, taping and ultrasound therapy to assist.
